Who we are
AXWEL provides security and operations intelligence software for businesses. This policy explains how we handle personal data when you use our website and Service.
Data we collect
- Account data: name, email, business name, and authentication data (passwords are stored only as salted hashes).
- Contact/lead data: details you submit through setup-help or contact forms.
- Footage & derived data: video, audio (where enabled), and the events, incidents, visitor journeys, and coaching insights derived from them.
- Usage & device data: logs, IP address, and product interactions used to operate and secure the Service.
- Site analytics: privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics on this marketing site (page views and CTA clicks). We do not use third-party advertising trackers.
Cookies
On this marketing site we use a single strictly necessary cookie to keep you signed in after login. We do not set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Our analytics do not rely on cookies and do not identify you personally.
How we use data
- To provide, secure, and improve the Service and generate the insights you ask for.
- To authenticate you, prevent abuse, and maintain audit and security logs.
- To respond to setup requests and support you.
- To comply with legal obligations.
Legal bases (GDPR/UK GDPR)
Depending on context we rely on: performance of a contract, our legitimate interests (operating and securing the Service), your consent (where required, e.g. certain footage/biometric processing), and legal obligations. Where you are a business deploying cameras, you are typically the controller of footage and AXWEL acts as your processor under the draft Data Processing Addendum in the Terms of Service, subject to counsel review.
Biometric & sensitive data
Some features (e.g. face-based recognition or re-identification) may process biometric or other sensitive data. These are configurable and may be disabled. Where you enable them, you are responsible for providing notice and obtaining any consent required by law (including BIPA and similar statutes).
SMS and mobile information
If an administrator enables optional security-alert SMS for a contact, we use that mobile number only to send those transactional alerts and to process STOP, START, UNSTOP, and HELP replies. SMS is not required to use AXWEL. Consent is not a condition of purchase or of using the Service. Message and data rates may apply; message frequency varies. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help.
We will not share or sell your mobile information with third parties or affiliates for promotional or marketing purposes. Mobile opt-in data and consent records are not shared with third parties except as needed to deliver the messages through our SMS provider.
Sharing
We share personal data only with service providers who help us run the Service (e.g. hosting, email delivery), under contract; when required by law; or to protect rights and safety. We do not sell personal data.
Retention
We retain account data for the life of your account and as required by law. Footage and derived data are retained according to your configured retention settings. Marketing leads and site-analytics events are kept only as long as needed for the purpose collected.
Security
We use technical and organizational safeguards, including encrypting sensitive data, storing passwords securely so they're never kept in plain text, keeping each business's account separate from every other, limiting what each access link can do, slowing down repeated sign-in attempts, and logging account activity. No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to protect your data.
Your rights
Subject to your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, port, or restrict processing of your personal data, and to object or withdraw consent. To exercise these, or if you are an end-user whose footage a business processes with AXWEL, contact that business (the controller) or reach us via the link below.
International transfers
Where data is transferred across borders, we use appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) as required.
Changes
We may update this policy; material changes will be communicated through the Service or by email.
